Concern worldwide is an Irish –based non-governmental, International, Humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern-worldwide would like to invite dynamic and creative applicants for the following position.
Position:-Cashier
Duty station:-Addis Ababa
Type of Employment:-Indefinite period
Job purpose
To ensure internal control over cash handling and utilization is adhered as per the organization policies & procedures and to ensure that adequate cash is held in the Head Office and it is kept in the safe with due for planned activities.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Controls and safeguarding of cash and coupons
- Make cash payment as per the policy and procedure
- Replenish petty cash fund as per the organization “petty cash” fund policy and procedure
- Fill in cash payment vouchers in the cash books (birr and Dollar) on daily basis.
- Reconcile cash on hand against the book on daily basis.
- Cheque payment
- Ensure that all cheque payment requests are reviewed /checked/ and approved by finance and the appropriate budget holder respectively before payments are effected
- Floats and cash collection
- Issue a cash float and follow up its timely settlement
- Collecting cash on behalf of concern Ethiopia by issuing the organization official cash receipt
- Deposit on time all collected cash to the bank
- Ensure adequate fund/cash held in country for planned activities
- Keep track and follow up monthly remittances from HQ and ensure the availability of sufficient cash in the bank in consultation with the CFC
- Collect cash receipts from field/project offices for all transfers made from HO.
- Other
- Effect HO staffs’ payroll on monthly basis
- Pay income and withholding taxes to the inland revenue
- Effect staff pension fund to the concerned government agency on timely.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCES
Essential
Education and Experience
- BA in Accounting with minimum of 3 years relevant experience or Diploma in accounting with 6 years of relevant experience
- Computer Literate – Microsoft office package
- Fluent spoken & written English
- NGO experience an advantage
- Fluent spoken & written English.
Desirable
- Flexible, reliable, culturally sensitive
- Ability to work long hours under pressure,
- Proactive/initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision
- Capable of working in team, ability to get on with people and get the best out of them. A good sense of humour.
Salary:-As per the organization scale.
