CAFOD, SCIAF and Trocaire (CST) represent the official development and humanitarian agencies of the catholic church of England and wales, Scotland and Ireland. In Ethiopia, the three agencies work together to support the developmental agenda of Ethiopia and to provide emergency supported when needed through working with local and international partners including the catholic church of Ethiopia and national NGOs.

We are now looking for a programme Manager to join the team in Addis Ababa. This post is being offered on a national contract and the post-holder will report to the country representative.

Job Purpose

  1. To lead, plan, monitor and manage CST’s programme in Ethiopia in line with the agreed strategy
  2. To develop relationships with partners, at strategic level in country, formulating strategy and goals for CST’s work,
  3. To ensure development of programmes to achieve those goals, and for carrying out the programme appraisal as well as the monitoring and review needed to implement and manage those programmes in line with CST’s values and working principles
  4. To represent CST at programme level externally
  5. To capture learning from the programming work and feed this learning back into the wider organization

Job Specific Requirements

Essential

  • Knowledge and /or experience of the region
  • Ability and willingness to travel, often at short notice and to insecure areas
  • Knowledge and experience of one or more the following technical programmes: women’s empowerment, resilience, climate change, agriculture, income generation or civil society space
  • At least 5 years’ experience in development or humanitarian programming
  • At least 2 years management experience
  • Experience in developing and managing a wide range of institutionally funded grants including EU, DFID and Irish Aid.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of Humanitarian programming
  • Written and spoken Amaharic.
