Ethiopian Development Research institute (EDRI) would like to employ a highly qualified senior Research fellow on a fulltime time basis who will also lead the center’s Policy Research and impact Evaluation (PRIE) program, which covers the thematic areas of agriculture, energy, forestry, water, green industrialization and sustainable urbanization.

Brief description of the position

The successful candidate is expected to devote about 70% his/her time conducting high quality research on the economics of climate change relevant to Ethiopia, especially on the impact evaluation of interventions aimed at building resilience of the agricultural sector as well as improved natural resource management. In the remaining time-share, the successful candidate will oversee ECRC’s policy Research and impact Evaluation (PRIE) program on the implementation of Ethiopia’s climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) strategy. The position will entail the following roles and responsibilities:

The successful candidate should be someone with the knowledge and experience required to efficiently harmonize the two responsibilities. Among other things, the successful candidate should have a grounded knowledge of Ethiopia’s CRGE strategy; the issues addressed across all the thematic areas of ECRC’s PRIE program, as well as the research methodologies that will be applied in the program.

Specific requirements

A PhD in Economics from a reputable university, with specialization in agricultural economics, environmental economics, climate change, or related topics.
A demonstrated research experience in issues related to the economics agriculture, climate change, development and environment with particular focus on developing countries;
At least 10 research articles published in peer – reviewed international journals. Only publications on the topical focus of ECRC and position are considered
Proven skills in developing research proposals, raising research funds, and overall research management;
Candidates with international experience will be given priority;
Female candidates are encouraged to apply

Duration of the position

The position will be available from July 1, 2016 for an initial period of 18 months with a possibility of extension
